the work
Three areas of ceramics interest me: pottery wares, sculpture and materials testing. The nature of clay and glaze chemistry and the transition of materials through heat allows for endless trials and many discoveries.

The various stages of development inherent to ceramics help distill my ideas. At a rudimentary level, my work is marked the arrangement of details that come together to form an aesthetic I find intriguing and seductive. I adore uniqueness. I am bewitched by the idea of defamiliarization or, making the familiar strange.

Drawing upon references from early to mid 20th century industrial design, pop culture and erotic art and incorporating aspects that may surprise, puzzle or entertain is what I like to make.
